Hi, I am a very new user of Linux. I just downloaded StarOffice for Linux, but don't know how to install it (not double click like windows). Can anybody help me? I am using the KDE thing (what does it mean anyways)

Thanks : )

If you have downloaded binary files put them all in a folder together and double click on the first one, eg:

so-5_2_ga-bin-linux-en-000

and the program will install itself.

KDE stands for K Desktop Environment and is a graphical desktop similar in concept to Windows. You don't need it to install Star Office.

Hope it works out OK!

Or if you want to do it the command line way, which is useful to know you would.

chmod a+x thestarofficefile.bin
./thestarofficefile.bin

that would start install also.
