Hi I just installed Linux RedHat but I have a major problem. I was trying to download some software such as update to mozilla web browser or Konqueror and I do not know how to install them. I managed only to unpack them. Please help asap.

are you using red hat 9? why do you have to update mozilla and conqueror?if you said that you have just unpacked it, that means that you have downloaded a tar.gz compressed file or .tgz or whatever. usually, there is a readme file included in it that would tell you how to install your software.
but you no longer have to go through that burden. download the .rpm installer version (choose one that is specifically made for your distribution which is red hat in your case) of whatever software you want. then you are ready to install.

download the apt4rpm file from same website it is in rpm format so as long as you have everthing should install automatically
at console (after install)
type
apt-get update
wait till its done then
apt-get install synaptic
wait again
now type synapticboom a gui installer that tells you what software is on the net to install and automates the process for you
(based on debian distros (way better than redhat bassed distros))
