I want to format the hard drive to get rid of the exiting Linux Mandrake and install Suse 7.1. Do I need to uninstall mandrake and then install Suse 7.1? How can I do that?
I would appreciate if anybody could help me.
Thanks.

the suze installation should format your harddrive just after the partitioning setup.
just boot off of the suze disk
