what do you mean by "create a file". Why not just open up the console and do "touch file"? You really want a "Frontend" to "touch"???

Which GUI are you using?
If you're using KDE, Konqueror is your file manager.
If you're using Gnome, Nautilus is your file manager.

If you have both GUI's installed, you can use either program. They function similar to windows explorer only much better.

As far as I know, neither nautilus nor konqueror have an option to create an "empty" file. Actually its not needed...

What kind of file?

In Gnome use gedit to create a new text file.

Or emacs, or vim or, any nunber of others.

The os by it's self does not create files,it's not it's job. Not linux or windows. You use a program to create new files for that program, etc.

Use a graphics program to create and edit photos, etc.

Use a spread sheet program to create spread sheets, etc.

Use a presentation program to create slide shows, etc.

See the light yet?

I think he means when you right click in Windows and you choose New, then you have a list of new files to create.
