Hi:a friend of mine he has a computer intel
733Mhz ,64Mb SDRAM pc/100.
1.2gig HDD .
His bios it has a password which he forgot.
now He cannot change anything in His Bios.
However his computer running linux ,Red Hat ,
and He would like to format His HDD .
and install win 95 or win 98 on -it .
which boot disk should we use .
also if we remove the cmos battery can we choose a new password into His bios..thanks in advance.

First - Do you *really* need Windows, with it's BSOD's and random freezes? Linux is much better ;)
To remove linux, do this:
NOTE: This will work only if Linux is on the First Hard Disk(/dev/hda) on your system.1. Type 'cfdisk /dev/hda'
2. Delete all the Linux Partitions(including the swap one)
3. Choose to write the partition table to disk
4. It might say that you need to reboot for the changes to take effect - **DO NOT DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!**
5. Quit cfdiskNext, you need to remove LILO:
1. Type 'dd if=/boot/boot.0300 of=/dev/hda bs=446 count=1' to restore the original boot sector.--------------------------------------------
Now you should be able to boot just restart with the Win9x setup Floppy Disk *AND* CD-ROM in the computer. Choose to run Setup when prompted.
So, put in the Boot Floppy, put in the Install CD, and Reboot!
Hopefully, Linux will be removed and Windows will have the whole disk to itself!
Oh yeah, taking out the Battery might work fine, but if it doesn't, you could try taking out the BIOS chip and then replacing it again. I think the battery method will work though, and it's safer to...
Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!
