I never thouhght it would be so hard to install stuff in Linux... I am running both Mandrake 7.1 and Red Hat Linux on Vmware through Windows 2000... I thought I would give Linux a try... Well the screen is in 640 X 480 and in 256 colours and I can's see a damn thing because I can't install the package that contains thet drivers... Damn it pisses me off... but anyways, there is a file called install with a ./pl extension or something. It says to 'run' the install, but what the heck do you run it in????????? HELP! this sucks...
I would appreciate some detailed input because I've read everywhere and can't find answers...

You type it in at the command line in the Konsole.
If, for example, you are using the KDE (K Desktop Environment) in Mandrake, there is an icon at the bottom of the screen that looks like a monitor - click on it and a Konsole screen should pop up.
If you are logged in as root there should be a hash symbol (#) and a cursor. Ensure you are in the Install directory, type the command at the cursor position and press Enter.
(The "./" means the command is in the same directory and the "pl" refers to the package you want to install).
Hope this helps - if not, come back!
