I don't know much more about this and would like to know how to check what exact location to install gentoo on that piece.
I noticed something like /dev/sr0
I have a scsci raid installed with one hard drive on my server motherboard and don't know where to go from here. can anyone help asap. thanks

I wouldn't recommend installing Gentoo as as a dual boot with Windows, especially for someone new to Linux. Gentoo is a source based distro that requires a lot of CLI configuration and depending on your hardware could take days to install and make it usable. If not done correctly you could mess up your Windows install.
However if you really want to try installing gentoo then I would suggest you do it on a Secondary Hard drive rather then secondary partition and follow the Gentoo Handbook to the letter. http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbo...
