How do I share files?

Comment:
I am running Win98 SE in VMware on top of Madrake 8.1. I have them networked together. From Win98, I can ping the Linux host but that's it. I think I need to mark my Linux files and folders as "shared". How do I share my Linux files and folders?
then create a guest account and start sharing in teh samba config file

Hi,
Jon's reply is precisely what u have to do to get file-sharing across the virtual machine and host running.
fyi, There is an easier way to do this however. When u first install the vm, u get a choice, where u can choose the networking type. From u're mail it looks like u chose, "bridged networking". instead choose "bridged and host networking".
What happens in the second case is that 2 virtual ethernet interfaces are set up. vmnet1 and vmnet2 say. U're local vm to host traffic is routed thro one and vm to internet thro the other. This option also sets up a samba server on the host as well as clients on the vm and also walks u thro setting up the guest account.
basically an easier thing to do. But if u're interested in getting a real feel for networking then i suggest u do what Jon said and set up Samba u'reself.
