How do i map anetwork drive in linux?

How to unzip ..gzip files in linux when I get an error message saying files not in gzip format...but they are.

to map a windows Network drive check out Samba samba.org gzip files saying there not gzip files that is unusual maybe your downloading this gzip file via ftp make sure you switch to binary in the ftp that can sometimes cause problems also gunzip john.gz or tar -zxvf john.tar.gz that always works for me.
