i just downloaded all 5 cd's of redhat, .. do i burn them to cd as iso's (i guess i have to), but how do i install it? i have a second hard drive that's clean and i'm going to be installing it on that, (the other one has xp)..
will i just be able to boot from cd to start installing? or how does it work? thanx in advance

The short answer(s):
1) You will make install cd's (but not .iso
files on cd)
2) Yes, you can boot directly into the
install from install cd1.
More detail on 1) What cd-burning software
do you have on XP? Well i use adaptec easy
cd creator 4 in 98, so with that I select
"file-->create cd from cd image-->(select
the directory,iso file,start)" it's
probably even easier on XP. The main thing
to remember is that you _DON'T_ simply copy
an .iso file onto the cd. You let the
burning software create a directory tree
from the files that make up the iso.
(BTW if you want to try a minimal install
now and add more packages later, then only
create from iso's 1,2&3. leave 4&5 on disk
as iso: there's a neat trick that can be
done with the mount command "-o loop",
where you can access the directory tree
within the iso file itself. But that's
beyond the scope of the question here).
you have the 5 iso's of RH 8.0, correct?

k, i've burned the first 3 cd, but when i try to boot with cd1 it doesn't find a boot sector??
is there some special commnad i have to use,or something else i'm missing??
