hi all, i want to remove grub and install lilo instead. I kept a grub password and i think thats what keeping me from removing it and clearing the MBR...I ran lilo with the -v option but grub doesn't get cleared. I even uninstalled grub from the rpm command. Is there any way i can get rid of it?

If you are using Redhat 7.3 you could try rebooting from Disk 1 and going through the first part of the install. Select Upgrade and it should take you to a screen to modify the boot manager.
Good Luck

Boot up using either Win95 or Win98 bootable disk and at the A:\> prompt, type
fdisk /mbr

but i don't want the win95 bootloader! Or i'll have more problems (i don't have a floppy drive or a cdrom drive to boot linux from)
edit lilo.conf and run lilo -v that's right, but try to se the first line to point to /dev/hda1, then run lilo -v then it will overwrite mbr. (i have the same problem)
