there ain't no MSN messenger for LINUX, that is too will too much hard work for MS, try searching for INSTANT messenger utilites under XWINDOWS software section in some linux sites.

Some good ones are :

linux.cnet.com
ZDnet.com's linux section
linux.org

May be u can find some software which claims to hook u up with MSN messenger service?!!!

if u find anything do remember to post it.

good luck

MS are trying to push that as the standard for IM. Hence forcing people to use Windows.
Wouldn't you just love to have that sort of power?
Apparently something called EVERYBUDDY connects to it, but never worked for me.

Yes everybody is supposed to work with MSN I
don't use MSN so I couldn't really tell you.
gie it a try it may work for you.
Robbo ya would be nice to have that kinda
power but isin't that why the DOJ is trying
to break them up. personally I like icq the
best for IM although all the 2000b versions
sucked big time too many features and it just
bloated the app!! but the linux icq clients
aren't as bloated and even support skins like
icq+

Yeah, used to use ICQ, but became too bloated. MSN is nice, checking your email for you and all.
As for the DOJ, they won't break up MS. Think about all the things that were really a monopoly, MS doesn't fit into those catorgories.
Whether you like it or not, you have the choice of getting windows, Apple is allways there, and of course Linux is also an option.
MONO means ONE, I've just name three very quickley, there are many othes.

Actully believe it or not I'm aginst the DOJ
breaking up microsoft! The way I see it they
make a product that is easy for people to
use thats why most people use it. Sure they
have done taken part in some"shady business
practices" but I'm pertty sure every company
has done this to one extent or another.
I personally still like linux better!

Sadly, if you don't get into "shady business practices" you won't go anywhere, as A competitor will come in and do it and leave you with nothing.
I can't see they've done all that much wrong.
Weigh up the alternatives
MAC: Good alternative, though hardware costs stop it from really going anywhere.
Linux/Unix: really too hard to become a desktop OS, though getting better, still not real close, in some cases costs more than windows anyway, is though aimed at servers not desktops.
Others: Well if they were any good I'd be able to name them.

Really Windows is the best choice, nothing really compares, when both cost and ease of use are taken into account.

I am reffering to the desktop as Robbo2 was, the network/server market is a different story.

I'd use IMICI if I were you! Ermmm, 'bout that MS stuff, they're pretty shady... their OS isn't that good it's just that it's popular. Just like some girls @ college (thick but look good!) nah.... Linux is one o' the best (Debian / mandrake???)

PS... soz girls that sexist comment don't include all of you!

IMICI's pretty cool, small, robust & simple
to use. It's "THE" only all in one IM client
with very few bugs I've ever seen.

Except for the status (available, busy, etc) feature, it's awesome........

I'm behind a proxy and I can't get Imici or Everybuddy to work. With Everybuddy I get the error

>HTTP/1.0 403 Forbidden
Error. Cannot connect to proxy.

My proxy seems to be well configured since I use it thru Opera and gFTP

any hints ???
