Hi there, i am trying to setup a simple webserver using centos, and my clients all run XP.
I have sucessfully managed to install linux, and install PHP and mysql to the system, and get it all configured and working.
I want to run a pre made portal, such as MemHT or Mambo on my server, as it saves me having to code a site from scratch!
But i am having a problem, which seems to occur to every portal i try (inclyding them above)
Basically, for each one, i install the portal, the php installer all goes well, and i get presented with the site, which always loads and looks perfect, but the problem, is i can never log in to the website gui frontend.
It just returns me back to where i was, but still logged out.The funny thing, is that if i try logging into the site, on the server itsself in firefox, it logs in just fine, and the site works perfect, it kinda makes me think some kinda permissions issue?
I have all files accessifble to "others" and some files are writable, as the installer said i needed them to be. Yet when i try it from another xp computer on the network, it wont log me in,
Any ideas? Its driving me insane!

When you are on the local machine, do you type in the IP address or localhost/127.0.0.1 to see the site? Do you have any firewall rules or SELinux running?
iptables -L
cat /etc/selinux/config # Look for or set SELINUX=disabled --> rebootis the mambo site using an SSL login?

It works on the local machine using both 127.... and its network address (10.0.0.100)
Firewalls are all off along with SELinux....

Is the server using DHCP, be sure DNS and network routing are not getting in the way.
Can you ping and ssh into the machine? (Get PuTTY for the Windows box)
Can the server open web pages on other Win boxes?
Check the http root and the mambo root for a .htaccess file, open them and look for any redirection info.
You do have mysql loaded on the server? try to log into that from XP (Get HeidiSQL).
Try another portal like Joomla or Wordpress. Mambo and Joomla are/were the same at one point in time.
