Hi i got this hard drive from my friend, he let me have it. But it has two partitions on it. It had windows 95 and Linux mandrake 8.2 beta. I tried format C: and it took off windows but Linux is still their. When i restarted with cd rom support to install windows again, it keeps booting up linux mandrake 8.2... can anyone please help me take this partition out??? TIA

boot to your Windows CD, type fdisk to remove all partitions. Type fdisk /mbr to blow away lilo/grub too.

Yea i tried that.. I typed in fdisk, and i view all partitions.. it shows an EXT and a PRIM... so when it asks to see all logicals in the EXT it says their is none... So then i tried to Delete the EXT partition and it tells me it cant because it contains Logicals in it.. I been on it all day, and i cant get it.. well atleast now i got it to boot windows 95 again instead of linux.. but i cant take it out, and linux is taking all my space, windows only has 1gb and the other 9 go to the other partition.. plz help

if all else fails, do a low level format and reinstall W95.

You might try starting the linux installation again. Delete all of the linux partitions it finds. Then you can just quit the installation without installing anything.

Yea, i did install windows 95, that pretty much took it out, i think.. it dont boot up linux no more. But the only problem now is that i cant delete the EXT partition for some reason.. it says theirs logical drives in it, but when i press to view all logical drives it says that their isnt any. So i try to delete the extended partition and it wont delete.. anyone know how to take it out? Btw i got the CD that formats the computer back to the factory compaq, but when it says Partitioning drives, it seems like its trying to partition it and delete one of the partitions, so then it restarts the computer and it keeps doing the same process of "partitioning" the HD.
