Been bussy installing linux redhat 8 on my windows xp machine (dual booting) Encountered some strange events, maybe i did somehting wrong

I used pm 8 to make two linux partitions (boot and swap)

Installed redhat 8 choose the option automatic partitioning

choose for grub boot loader

rebooted and then bang first problem

logon screen was in text, did not selected it. Refused to go to graphical

Reinstalled,

same procedure

rebooted, and then linux would not work

Finally i got fed up with it, deleted the mbr of should i say fdisked it and am back to solely windows xp

Feeling quite frustated, what did i do wrong??

your graphics card may need a different driver. Run Xconfigurator or whatever your system uses from console. If you have a G-force card you will need the linux drivers from NVIDIA site. I wouldn't mess with reinstalling until I tweaked the graphics. DId you get the installer graphics?

Thanks for the response

I did get the so called x-configurator and it recognised my g-force 4 card. I even tested my desktop resolution with succes.

But how do i install linux drivers if i only can use the text version?

You might get lucky and have lynx or links
installed. These are browsers that run from
the text based console (links can also run
on the framebuffer with the -g option). If
one of these is installed you should be able
to download the drivers you need.

You could also download the drivers in XP
and save them to a fat32 partition, then
mount this partition in llinux and install
the drivers.

Did you try to login, and then type startx to see if the graphcal interface (X) would start?
