I have been trying to get Win2k server set up as a NAT router for my DSL service, that would not work, neither would ICS. I would like to know if there is a linux release that can do this. THe biggest problem is that I am clueless to command prompt based linux operations. If there is a GUI based one, I woiuld really like that. I have smoothwall installed, but I don't know how to use it as it is command prompt driven.
The network layout is as follows:
INTERNET >>> MODEM >>> ROUTER PC >>> SWITCH/ HUBS >>> WORKSTATIONS
All the workstations are running Windows, except for one that is running Ubuntu 5.04.
My temporary soultion is to use Win 2k (b/c that is what was installed) and AnalogX's Proxy server (which has limited capabilites).
Or, if someone could walk me through setting up SmoothWall or some other command prompt Linux routing OS, that would work too.
The NICs in the server are a D-Link DFE 530tx, and a RealTek RTL81390
The Video card is an S3 Trio3D/ 2X AGP
If anyone could help me that would be great, thanks!

Actually a hardware router may do the task equally well................

I am trying to talk my dad into getting a hardware router, but I will try RedHat and Webmin in the meantime.
Thanks, and if anybody else has any other suggestions, please let me know.
