Could someone please show me how to run the post-installation Add/remove software. I am running that on desktop Application> .., but it always say "unable to retrieve software info", Do I need connect the PC to internet?

I would like to see a gui interface give me the info whats sort of software available to install / remove. When I initially installed the Fedora, i could tick whatever packages in the gui window. I wish to run that utility again.
Could anyone please show me the way. Thanks a lot.

Yes, you need to be online normally. You can change that if you have a CD or or other means to install a program.

Normally you try to stick with the distro's install scheme. Fedora uses RPM's normally. Usually you just click on an rpm and it installs the package or application.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

from the Menu bar at the top,,,, Assuming a DE (desktop environment) of Gnome,

Applications > System tools > Add Remove Software, > ( Enter Root Password ) ( Package Manager )

For disabling the repositories, and or enabling, the install dvd, or cd's

From the Package manager menu bar choose

Edit > repositories, >

You should now be able to uncheckmark the repositories , that would require internet access and enable or disable the Install media,

Thank for all of your responses. However, my Fedora 7 is a standalone host or behind MS-ISA. Yum did not work. And from GUI MainMenu >Applications > Add/Rem Software (pkg mgr) could not be launched - "Unable to retrieve software info".
Could please show me how to install some pkg from the Fedora 7 in the cdrom driver? For example, I need to install dhcpd, and named, but in Fedora cd there are not there rpm files. I understood that these modules were combined with other network utilities, and If I made a brand-new install of linux, I could tick them in some options.
I prefer not to download from dhcpd.rpm etc from network, cuz when I install it always asks for extra so.lib. etc.
I have the original F7 CD with me, how can I install these modules, please help.

you could edit the /etc/yum.repos.d file and change all the repos in that file,

InstallMedia]
name=Fedora 8
mediaid=1194015397.199387
metadata_expire=-1
gpgcheck=0
cost=500
enabled = 0

changing the enabled to 1, enabling the repo

and changing all others to 0
