I don't know what configuration program you are using to solve your problem, but com2 in linux is /dev/cua1. Programs may be coas(Caldera) netcfg(RedHat), netconf(RedHat, Mandrake, & S.U.S.E) or S.A.T (Storm Linux)
note: for most of these programs you will have to make a configuration file that will not be encrypted. ensure that only root can read the file.

Not that familiar with that modem, however, as it is a "pnp", it's most likely a "winmodem" which is not supported in linux, buy a real modem.
