I downloaded fedora core 4 iso, i checksumed them and got the green light, I congided my bios to boot from cd, I tried booting with the cd no 1, I got the the blinnking under score like it seemed to be doing something, then it just booted to windows? I tried my gentoo and redhat disk and it worked, wtf is going on?

Either you are mistaken and the image you burned was not of a bootable CD, or the CD media or burn was flaky. Try burning at a lower speed and double check the image.

Addendum - you did choose Create CD from Image rather than just copy the file to a CD?
