Hi frds

I am looking to learn monitoring tools for monitoring purpose as i am using RHEL 5.1 as my operating system. I am not sure where to start from as i havent got a clue in regarding them. can some 1 help me in getting the software for the tools such as cacti, hp open view or any tools for installation and guide me in right direction to learn these tools in an easy and effective way.

Well, like you said, Cacti is one, why not try it?

I've tried many, but most of them either don't work or are lacking in FreeBSD. Dunno about Linux, seems like most of them supported Linux better (supposedly).

I've tried Nagios, OpenNMS, Zabbix and Zenoss - I didn't like any of them and/or they wouldn't work right in BSD.

I finally settled on PandoraFMS - it works good on most any platform & has some nice features, but it has it's own set of quirks too.
