Help for taking backup of Linux machine

I have a tape drive connected to a SUn machine & I use ufsdump to take backups of all SUN machine on the network. Now I want to take backup of linux machine's home partition using the same tape drive connected to Sun machine. How do i do it. I am trying ufsdump but it doesn't work.

Please help.
