Help! configure network in mandrake 7.2

I have a 3COM509 type Ethernet card. I've specified the IP address, default gateway, DNS server, host name, but still I cannot connect to the network. "ifconfig" shows eth0 with the correct IP address.

What have I missed? Thanks for your help.

Well whats the problem ?
If ifconfig shows eth0 and the rest what else do you need ?
