Hard Drive Removal

Lots of stuff here on adding hard drives, but not much on removing them. I'm running Mandrake 8.2. Lately a my data drive (hdc1) has been erronious and with the last power outage, it pretty much died. When linux is loading it thinks hdc1 has errors, attempts to fix, can't then drops to console to give me a chance to fix it. I can't. If I take out the HD, it does the same (even if hdc is NOT connected). Is there an entry in some init script or something that I can change so it ignores hdc1?... Any help will do. It is an easy fix, I just can't find it... AHHRG.

So... If anyone else stays up too late for their brain to work... To solve this problem, edit your /etc/fstab. This file is where all the mounting and fsck utilities look to see what is installed. Mandrake does a good job of adding entries, but you'll have to remove them when removing hard drives... anyway. GOOD NIGHT>... BOUCH
