And there's no such thing as Linux 8,

Currently the kernel is about 2.4. Your thinking of either Red hat 8 or Mandrake 8

SoulSniper,

to be technical about it,

you said "Your thinking of either..."

it should be "You are" or "You're"

Cheers,

I noticed that you got yours and my problem fixed with your statement. Someone understood the statement and replied. Thanks for the answer. Now if you could tell me how to get this 2.4 to boot to the GUI instead of the Text Mode you could make my day. I have been searching for the answer for quite some time. Thanks JDS

Edit /etc/inittab and change the value from 3 to 5,

id:5:initdefault:

That's all there is...

you do not get linux 2.4 boot into gui. Linux is the kernel. It cannot boot into GUI. It doesn't even have a gui. What you want to do is start into runlevel 5 when you boot the system which is usually configured to start "Xfree86" on most distros and load "xdm", "gdm" or "kdm" so you can login graphically.
I think you're from India so you're probably talking about redhat 8.0 as people often wrongly call it "linux 8" here.
As taurus says, just edit /etc/inittab to boot into runlevel 5.
