Comment:

this may be a stupid question, since grub has been out so long, but I would like to do some "after the fact" configuring of grub. Namely, removing the windows entry from it when i go back to bootmagic. i know it doesn't hurt anything for it to be there. I guess I've never really found out where to configure grub. lilo was easy. Is it a grub.conf or similar? thanks in advance.

You can find the grub menu in:
/boot/grub/menu.lst
