I just installed SuSE 9.2 Pro. Good thing is, now I have a working Linux to play around with after... um 10 attempts. Now I have a new problem. If I switch off the machine and turns it on again, GRUB starts without any problem. But if I choose restart from the system menu, linux or windows, GRUB will say "GRUB Geom Error". Does anyone know what is wrong here? I don't really have much experience with linux. Any help will be appreciated.

All I know is this: SuSE 9.2 calculated an odd geometry when I installed it. If you perform an fdisk /dev/hda you'll probably see your partitions don't end on cylinder boundaries. All around, 9.2 was disappointing to me, and definitely way too bloated. Novell can keep their SuSE as far as I'm concerned. Who sticks an /opt in /etc, anyway?? It's gets even more idiotic when you consider that kde stores its configurations in /usr/local/share/config/kdm and /usr/local/share/apps/kdm. Why are they using that extra directory? You don't need it to run kde! Makes no sense. Absolutely no sense at all. It takes an eternity to boot it, too. Glad I didn't shell out the "official" cash for it.
