This may seem like a stupid newbie question (which I am not), but I haven't really ever had to think about it until now.....

When I create a file as the user nate for example, it is also created with group permissions nate. How do I change my default group permissions to be something like users or something more universal so that I can add more. I know that somebody has told me this before, but I just can't think of how. Again to recap: How do I change it so that when I create a file or directory, the default group isn't "nate" and could be something like "users"?

I would guess that a group would be what the creator is a primary member of. My guess is the only group you have is nate and the only user is nate. Does ls -l show both that?

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.
