Gnome task bar missing

Comment:
I recently installed Suse 10 with Gnome. Originally there was a 'task bar' at the bottom of the screen. When I started a program, an icon for the program would rest on this lower task bar. I could click on the icons to switch windows.
I noticed today that this task bar is gone and cannot figure out how to get it back.
The upper menu bar is still there. I finally noticed that there is a window selector on the extreme right edge of the upper menu bar, so I can at least switch windows now, but would like to figure out how to get the lower task bar back.
I've looked thru the Gnome Control Center but haven't found anything.
Thanks

Right-click on the upper panel and select "new panel". If you then go to the properties of the new panel make sure that the orientation is set to bottom.

Thanks. That got the panel on the bottom, but when I run an application, corresponding icons don't display on the panel.

Right click on the panel, select "Add to Panel" and choose "Window Selector" from the list. You may want to see what other useful applets there are for you to try....
