getting started with samba

i downlaoded and extracted samba into a folder but i don't know what to do next, i don't see a setup icon or anything like that, can anyone help me on what to do next? Thank you,,

no it's time 2 edit smb.conf with the right workgroup, and make security = share

1. login to linux as root. 2. invoke the start->samba config program (this is also known as SWAT) 3. NOW make sure xinetd is configured correctly and answers the request for SWAT 4. mess with SWAT to get SAMBA working.
ok, that is as far as I have gotten. My problem is that Win2k ONLY sends out encrypted passwords and logins. Apparently this screws things up and i continue to get security login issues. anyone else know the answer to this one? TIA
