I am having troubles getting Linux to read my iPod to put music on it. I have AmaroK, that didn't work. I have gtkpod, That didn't work. I plug in the device and a folder window opens and displays four more windows, and nothing in the windows will open. The iPod itself Just displays a red symbol and the words "Do not disconnect." I have read other forums and help pages and even tried some things in the root terminal, but I am ridiculously new to Linux and Ubuntu and don't know anything about it. I have a lot of music that I would like to put on the stupid thing because the computer I am using right now only has 8 gigs. I have another sitting next to it, but that's a whole other problem. I guess I should state that problem as well-
I have a compaq that originally came with Windows XP, and I hated it and hate Microsoft altogether (except some things that will be released in 2007 that actually look promising), so I switched to Linux. The problem is, when I switched, the screen resolution is really low and I can't do dick with it because of it. I tried to change the screen resolution on the preferances menu, but there was only one option. If someone could help me fix that as well, that would be an extremely big help.
Please help me, I am sick of working with a s---ty computer and am sick of having a $250 iPod that I can't use.
It's greatly appreciated.
Hello little school girl
