Comment:
I just installed debian and would like to install the kde gui. I have debian on a partition and win2k on the other. How can I download kde to use with debian on the linux machine. I have an adsl internet connection. Is there a way to download the files in win2k and pass them to debian?

use 'apt-setup' to configure your package system. you can also manually edit the file /etc/aptt/sources.list to add any package sources. see 'man sources.list' for info on the format.
use 'apt-get update' to update info about available packages (this is stored in /var/lib/dpkg/available) and then use 'apt-get install kde' if u use stable or testing or 'apt-get install kdebase kdelibs kdeadmin kdenetwork (..)' to install the kde packages.
alternatively you can download the kde packages from some kde mirror and install them using 'dpkg -i /path/to/kde/debs/kde*.deb'
