GE Force V7700 Graphics Card

I'm trying to get the GE Force V7700 Graphics Card to run on Redhat 6.2. Currently this version is not supported by 6.2, however is supported by 7.0. Cannot upgrade to 7.0 as the applications I am using, runs stable on 6.2 only. I've tried upgrading the XFree86 Server to 4.0.2. Everything is installed, however, when I start the Xserver, it somehow jumps back to VGA mode, with 320x??? mode, and 8 bit colour. Any ideas how I can resolve this problem to get full colour and 1024x768 resolution? Thanks in advance! :)
