humm how to discribe my problem
best to give a detailed system spec first.
486-DX2/66 main board with processor.
16mb of RAM
vidio card n/a to this problem (plus i'm not sure(some old crap ISA card probly trident))
Controller Card (again not sure and it don't matter)
1 3.25 1440 floppy drive.
3 SMC-Ultra32 8416t adapters (--the problem)

okay so I know one or two things about configuring a computer.
After a lot of searching i found a configuration util for the afore mentioned NIC cards (no thank to the manufactuer)
I configured the cards as follows

NIC1 = IRQ = 5
I/O = 0x240
NIC2 = IRQ = 7
I/O = 0x260
NIC3 = IRQ = 11
I/O = 0x280

Okay so I got that all configed correctly and entered and saved that information to the freesco configuration.
however when the router boot it recignises the first NIC and assigns it to /dev/eth0
however the other two NICs are not recignised.

So The only thing I can think is the problem is do the other two NICs have to be connected to a network to be recignised ??
if so why dose it recignise NIC1 w/o a network connected to it.

other information.
at boot time dhcpcd is run for /dev/eth0
what do i have to to do to get the other two NICs to load with the Module.
by the way I am useing the correct driver.

any help would be gladly accepted.

I am guessing that the cards that didn't get detected were on IRQ 5 and 7. It's just a guess but IRQs 1-8 were used pre-ISA and when they added cards and whatnot they added IRQs 9-15 normaly 1-8 are used by other stuff. I have never used
Freesco but Every GNU Linux distro I have used has had to be told to try to detect multiple NICs. I am guessing you tried this. If not try adding it to lilo.conf under append and to modules.conf or conf.modules.
When you ifconfig eth1 does it tell you it can't find the card or does it tell you there isn't a SMC card at that address?
