Floppy access problem

Hello,
I am using Mandrake 8.1, I am able to
access cdrom, but not able to access floppy
When i tried to mount the floppy disk, by
giving the following command in root login

mount -t msdos /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy

then i got this message
mount: /dev/fd0: unknown device

can any one help me..

have you tried typing
mount -a
and hiting enter just before you enter your command above? sometimes this helps but i don't know why.
