Is there any way to get web pages to look as good on Firefox Suse9 as it does in IE XP?

They just hurt my eyes and the sizes are all wrong.

Have you tried changing the fonts and sizes, especially setting a minimum font size (look under Tools, Options, Fonts & Colors). In Firefox, web pages look just as good for me on my Windows 2000 machine as they do on Redhat 8.

Good luck.

Tbanks for the reply.

I guess I should have said that I was running KDE. Do you think that going to Gnome would help?

I just can't really put my finger on it. The page width is always wrong and the fonts just don't seem right even thought I yasted some MS fonts.

Would adding more font support for either firefox or konkorer (sp) help?

The WM/DE you use won't make the slightest difference. What's important is what default toolkit firefox was built with and whether it's using freetype2, xft, fontconfig fonts etc.

Where did you get firefox from and what does about:buildconfig (type it in the url box) say about gtk2,xft and freetype2?

Thanks. I think you are correct on how it is supposed to display fonts and such.

I was working on the box for other reasons and put in a new video adapter. Just to see what is looked like I tried it under knoppix live cd. It looked a lot better under the new card. I think there is just not enough support for the built in card so I bought a new adapter card. Oddly not one card had any mention of linux support on it's box that I could see out of about 50 brands/types.
