Hi,
I just put Fedora on a USB stick I've got. I selected my USB drive on start up and it went through the boot process but right when I'm expecting the black screen to go away and a nice and pretty graphical interface to pop up, it goes to a blank black screen and does nothing but display the following message:
uli526x: eh0 NIC Link is Down
After that comes up nothing happens. Ever. What the heck is it trying to tell me? Is it demanding my computer be hooked up to a network via ethernet? If so, I'm deleting Fedora and never coming back.
Thanks,

Sounds like there's an issue starting your ethernet card.
If the card is a PCI or other add-in card, remove it and try again.
If the ethernet is onboard, try to disable it in the BIOS, then try again.

Okay now...
I went into the network connections page (windows) and disabled the ethernet. Then I went into the Hardware Manager and checked to make sure the hardware is indeed disabled. Then I rebooted into my USB Fedora.
ADDRCONF (NETDEV_UP): eth0 link is not ready
uli526x: eth0 NIC Link is DownBy what I can guess, translated into english it's telling me...
Error: The ethernet hardware is disabled.
Error: The ethernet cable is unplugged. Is there a way to make it shut up and ignore the ethernet? I connect using a USB wireless adapter and WILL NEVER connect using ethernet.
Thanks for the response,

It doesn't care about your nic.
There is another problem.
Try the stick on a different computer. What did you use to install the distro to the usb?

It is too my motherboard's networking card. I went into the system bios and disabled it there after I disabled it in the Hardware Manager. This time it got to the same spot in the boot process but instead of displaying a blank screen and an error message or two, it just displayed a blank screen, then sat there staring at me funny as if to tell me to 'Go Fish'.
I booted the USB Fedora 10 on my mom's laptop and my dad's desktop and they both work fine. My mom's laptop only has a wireless card, it doesn't have onboard ethernet. My dad's desktop is the same as mine except his is plugged into the family's wireless router via ethernet and it doesn't have a wireless networking card.
I installed Fedora 10 i686 onto my USB drive via the "liveusb-creator-3.6.5" program hosted on the Fedora website.

Use boot options, disable stuff or just start at safe mode.

Sorry bud, but that's not very helpful. You might as well have said 'Sorry, I have no idea.'

But my usb fedora works.
See how to use boot options.
I guess I could drive over there and fix it.
