I just upgraded the Linux on my dual boot system from RH 7.3 to Fedora Core 4. Now, when I try to boot Linux I get this error message:

Checking filesystems
/: clean, 199750/1048576 files, 957016/2096474 blocks
fsck.ext3: Unable to resolve 'LABEL=/boot'
/home: clean, 6515/1300480 files, 317087/2598505 blocks
[FAILED]

It then asks me to enter my root password to log in or Ctrl+D to reboot.
When I entered ls -l from within my /boot, /home, and /mnt/windowsC directories, it said there were 0 files. Might this have something to do with the /etc/fstab file? BTW, I am unable to save changes to the fstab file from the repair login which seems like the only way I can even access Linux. So, I can't even do a "tweak the file and see what happens".

Chances are that the filesystem may only be mounted readonly, hence why you can't write to it. Did you change boot loaders or kernels? What were/are you using....lilo or grub? Post up your relevent config files lilo.conf and grub.conf. If you can't get at them try booting off a rescue floppy or a live cd like knoppix and copy them that way.
