Hi there, i would be greatful to anyone who can help me with this one... i recently had redhat 9 on my computer which worked fine and perfectly, and had the cd's to Fedora core 1, i have installed it from both graphical and text mode (seperately) and the install goes through fine on both, however after install it goes to boot up for the first time, this is where i get no further... i select the OS to boot up, i get the first screen where it displays all the loading items and then the screen goes blank and nothing!
I have tried a different monitor just incase it was down to the fact my TFT would not support it, which made no difference. I have even tried different cd's (just in case) and in both occassions nothing happens... it does not appear that after the blank screen appears that the computer boots any further..
could anyone offer any suggestions as to what might be causing this? or fixes?
Many thanks!
Richard

If you think there is a problem with your monitor/video card, why don't you list it here so!!! And what was the last thing it ran before the monitor went blank? I would like to help but can't really tell what's wrong without further info...

Hi Taurus, thanks for the reply, i was in work at the time so didnt have the exact details sorry about that :)
right the graphics card i currently have is
Hercules 3d Prophet 9000 Pro AGP x8 (which is an ATI)i find that on boot up it states...
Init v285 booting
setting default font
welcome to fedora core
press i for interactive setupand then all of a sudden the screen goes blank and nothing happens...
i have reinstalled RH9 to which it works perfectly, a reinstall or upgrade both have the same results
Any help appreciated :)

Fedora Core is trying to run GUI when it boots up while loading those services... Why don't you do <Ctrl><Alt>F1 (just right after you see a message saying something like hit "I" to get into interactive mode or something similar to that!) to get into text mode and see what is the error. And when you install Fedora Core, does it recognize your video card and installs a right driver for that: Mach_64 or SVGA? You can tell by looking in /etc/X11/XF86Config.
