I have attempted to install Fedora Core 1 onto my laptop (32MB RAM, Pentium 233MMX, 30GB HDD) but every time I try to start a graphical or text-based installation, after showing Running anaconda... for about 20 seconds the message 'install exited abnormally' appears and Linux shuts itself down to a 'you may safely reboot your system' prompt. Can anyone suggest what may be the problem and how I can solve it. I boot from CD and the installation seems to work OK on my desktop PC.

I installed it last night and had similar problems. I re-burned all 3 CD's and all was fine afterwards. I had used DVD Decryptor to burn the first 3 but used Nero for the other ones. Try re-burning your CD's, or at least the first one. Seems corrupted files on CD's are the major cause of installation problems.

Just a thought is 32 mb of ram enough. Didnt they say you need at least 128. I know it uses more than my RH9 setup did by about 64 meg on average

You could also try passing one or more of the following options at the boot prompt. I am unsure about fedora, but I imagine you need to type this in at the point straight after it boots the CD and says something like "hit enter to install fedora...." Try typing one of te following: linux noapic linux noapic linux nousb linux apm=off linux nopcmcia
You can also combine them like: linux noapic nousb apm=off
