Hey All
I know that broadcom is notorius for not supporting anything but windows for their hardware, but im a networking student and i feel impotent that i only know windows. So i'm trying out a couple linux distros and found that red hat is the most compatible with my off the shelf hp-laptop.heres the deal: i got the os up and running, im using the linuxant driverloader instead of ndiswrapper (because of ndiswrapper's lack of bells and whistles) http://www.linuxant.com/driverloader/wlan/downloads-license.php
and got through all the windows drivers fine, but now the problem is that the little button that turns on and off the wireless card doesnt work. i think it's part of hp's quicklaunch deal, but i can't figure out how to enable this in fedora.
so the question : how can i enable quickbuttons in fedora core 3 on this hp pavilion zv5150us (zv5000 series) laptop?
Thanks in advance =)

yeah write/email HP about it (they have started to support, or even acknowloadge, linux more these days).
Other than that you could: bind that button to toggle ifconfig eth0 up/down...
dont know how to do that though, however maybe it will inspire someone who does :).

heheh alright ill give HP a try
but the button binding won't work, but eth0\eth1 is the wired nic card. it seems the wireless designation is "wlan". so maybe i can bind the button to bring wlan up or down, now the problem is that i dont think that button works until i get the hp quicklaunch working. thanks though!

no you want the command to bring the device down not the "designation" (???). but yes, goodluck :).
