Here's a strange one...
As Mandrake 9.2 boots, I can see that bringing up my network interface (eth0) failed. But it really didn't. Once I log on everything works. Network, internet, everything. If I do an ip addr everything looks normal too. When I run dmesg I also see no errors

Does anyone have any idea why it would be listed as failed?

If the network works, do you really care if it reports failed during the boot up??? I don't know about you but I rather spend my time on other important things then worry about it...

i don't know why it does it.. but it seems
to do it with basically all of my boxes on
Mandrake 9.2.. but as long as network works,
there's nothing to worry about.

[FAILED] means a non 0 exit status. Open up that rc script and enter all those commands manually and see where theres a non zero $?

I have a RH8.0 laptop that does the same thing, asked a linux expert and was told not to worry. It corrects itself later in the boot or such was his response. Anyway it works, so no worries mate.

Thanks for the tip Balram, I'll give it a try. Yeah, I see what you guys are saying about not worrying about something that works. I'm just anal retentive that way I guess.

Thanks for the help.
