Hi everyone:

I got hold of other window partitions but the thing is, if i login as root and try to change permissions for that, it gives error that it cannot change permissions coz it is read only. How can we fix this thing. i need to access the data from other partitions(Window partitions) I hope someone can help me with that.

Thanks

"got hold"?
"for that"? maybe "for this"?

man fdisk
man ls (particularly ls -l)

Are they formatted to FAT or NTFS? If the
latter its probably a good idea that they
are mounted read only as write support for
NTFS under GNU/Linux is not great. You
should use captive
(http://www.jankratochvil.net/project/captive/).

If they are in FAT then make sure that the
lines in /etc/fstab do not contain "ro" and
if you want all users to be able to write
to the drive put "umask=0" as one of the
options.
