Hi, I have RedHat 8.0 and my SB Ensoniq doesn't work, but my onboard sound does. They are both detected, just the SB doesnt work. The on board sounds horrible and is too quiet for me. How do I get the SB to work?? It works in Mandrake 9 by default.

It should work with RedHat Linux 8.0!!! Did you check the volume control under the RedHat's Menu to make sure that you have it set to hight?

Hmmm, I found something interesting! It apparently works...I just need to get it fully working..I accidentally tapped my mic (Plugged into my ensoniq) and itplayed through my ensoniq, and not the on board. So I can talk through the mic and it works clear and great on my ensoniq, but for some reason all other sounds go to the on board one. How do I change this???? Thanks!
(Once again disabling the other one will prolly do it i think)

Disabling onboard sound is often done by setting jumpers on your motherboard. Or maybe your BIOS can do it. If you have no docs for your mobo, check with whoever sold you the PC.
If you've already found a solution, please let me know. I have the same problem, even with onboard sound disabled. The only clue I can find is this syslog message:
