E-mail; Evolution or Thunderbird

Browser: Firefox or Opera

Word Processing: Open Office

Depending on what Linux you install, you will probably find Evolution Firefox & Open Office will already be installed.

Before posting try google. Backup. Use anti virus software.

In addition to the above suggestions, Kmail is part of the KDE Desktop Environment. Another choice for the GUI is Balsa (although slower than Kmail in my experience).
