In most Linux installations, copy and paste
operations should be fairly straight
forward.Highlight the text to be copied.
Copy the highlighted text to the clipboard.
Paste the contents of the clipboard to the
destination window. To highlight text, place the mouse pointer in front of the first text character to be highlighted, CLICK-and-HOLD the primary mouse button and drag the mouse pointer to the back of the last text character to be highlighted, release the primary mouse button.
If all the text in the window is to be highlighted, you can use the keyboard combination <CTRL+A>.
To copy highlighted text to the clipboard, use the keyboard combination <CTRL+C> or ALT-CLICK the highlighted text area and select the copy option in the resulting list.
To paste the contents of the clipboard, CLICK the destination window where you want the contents pasted and use the keyboard combination <CTRL+V> or ALT-CLICK the destination window where you want the contents pasted and select the paste option in the resulting list.
This works for me in the KDE Desk Top Environment under Mandriva Linux 2007 Free (Official). I have also used this procedure in the Gnome Desk Top Environment, Icewm, and all versions of M$'s Windows O.S. from 3.1 to XP.

Hi,
Tks for your advice. It does not work on
elinks, the text-browser. There is no X
running on the server. [Click] and [Drag]
has no function. It won't highlight the
text. Holding down [Ctrl]/[Alt], [Click] and
[Drag] can highlight the text, page-wide.
But I can't paste the highlighted content on
document.B.R.
