Okay, I have a rather basic question, but I'm a little apprehensive because I don't know much of anything about doing this and because my boyfriend recently tried to install FC 4 and ended up having to reinstall Windows. So, tomorrow I will be building my own computer since I finally have all the parts. I just bought a copy of Windows XP Home with SP2, and I also have a copy of Ubuntu version 5.04.04 (I think that's correct; I don't have it with me now). I would like to have both operating systems on the same hard drive, 200 GB. I have never installed Windows before, and I have never used Linux before except for a version of Knoppix that ran from the CD. Can someone please explain to me in basic terms what I need to do and what order I need to do it in? I've been reading all this stuff about having three or four partitions and only being able to use FAT32, etc. etc. I do have some knowledge of how computers work, probably more than the average person, but not nearly enough to attempt to do this on my own. Thanks for your help.

Okay,
First you have to install WindowsXP
Do not use the entire hard drive for it.then create a FAT32 partition in a logical partition (is maybe easiest)
leave empty (read unpartitioned) disk space in the logical partition for Ubuntu V5.04 (by the way Ubuntu Breezy Bager 5.10 is out)
As last, install Ubuntu in the leftover space.
Good luck.

HI I have a question on Dual boot. I have two seperate hard drives. One with Ubuntu and other with Redhat. When I boot I get an option which to boot either Ubuntu/Redhat.
Now I recently Installed Windows XP over Redhat and now when I boot I get only windows.
How do I make it dual boot so that I can get at my Ubuntu as well. Please help
