Hi
Installed Suse onto HDD that already had WinXP on it. No problems until right at the end of the install, says its starting Linux session and screen goes blank (and will not wake up).
Reboot machine and GRUB comes up, select Linux to boot, and after first few screens, screen goes blank again.
Am using an LCD screen (AG Neovo E-171), not sure if that is the problem.
Have installed dual boot on an old system (AMD 500Mhz) with no problems.
Anyone got any ideas ??

The HDD I am trying to install onto is the primary master.
Secondary master is a data HDD.
Secondary slave is DVD/RW.

AMD 64 3000
GeForce FX 5700 256mb
1GB Ram
ASUS MOBO K8V SE Deluxe

Thanks

Can you boot up in single user or failsafe mode? If you can get to a prompt, check your X configuration. You might have an incompatible resolution/refresh rate, monitor selection, etc. selected in the X configuration. That could keep the X server from starting. Have you checked your logs? Any clues in there?

Thanks for the reply Robert
Tried boooting in failsafe mode - get the same [gets to a certain point and then screen goes blank].
Not sure what single user mode is !!
Got to prompt - tried booting sax2, same problem.
Check my X config - how do I do that? Tried changing res with F2 but no change.
Will change to CRT and see if I get the same problem and will post results.
Just for background info - installed on older machine and lots of probs with same LCD monitor while installing (fuzzy screen/multiple views etc) so at the mo am assuming it is the monitor causing probs.
Doesn't seem to be many people with posts regarding LCD monitors and linux(is it just me???) - e-mailed AG and they said they don't support linux (nice one AG!).
Anyway cheers for the reply.
