Hi,

I have installed Redhat linux 7.3 on the second partition of the hard disk (10 GB).
The first partition contains Windows XP 30 GB.

During the installation , I have used these options for boot:
LILO boot loader and
to load from the first kernel of the boot partiton.

It has created one boot floppy also at the end of the installation.

Now when I reboot the m/c using floppy,
Its giving an error like :

Kernal image not found
boot :

How can correct this problem ?
How can I have dual boot without using the floppy ?

Please give me your comments,
Thank you very much.

hello

I think for dual boot without floppy your primary partition I mean your win xp partion ("The first partition contains Windows XP 30 GB.") shouldn't be ntfs (defualt file system of win xp)!!
if it is fat32 (not ntfs) you could install "grub" boot loader on MBR. after that you have dual boot without floppy
--good luck

this is wrong. it makes no difference to the MBR what filesystem the partitions contain.

add an entry for winXP in the /etc/lilo.conf and install lilo in the MBR (on your 1st disk).
that should do the trick.

Hi,
After installing redhat linux 7.3 (only GNOME package)

I see 3 options on the boot screen :
Redhat Linux 2.14.4
Redhat Linux 3-smp
Windows XP

If I select any of the first 2, its going thru till detecting the key board ...

at last getting stuck up at :
Initialising USB controllers (some thing here) [OK]
Initialising USB controllers (ehci - hcd) [OK]
after this it does not progress.
I am not getting any login prompt.
I did choose graphics mode option for logging in.
Can you please tell me whats the problem.

Thanks for the help.
