Or you could just use Mandrake 8.2 and not have to follow any instructions. Just install onto a different partition and LILO will handle the boot.... About as easy as it gets...

yeah, I can't dualboot XP and Mandrake 7.2, every time i try to install linux it says that my drive is fragmented but I defraged it before I did the install

do you think the XP partition being NTSF would have anything to do with it? my distribution is a few (2 I think) years old so maybe NTSF isn't recognized?
