Comment: I had dual boot with XP and Ubuntu and kept running into issues with Ubuntu. All the issues were with my motherboard, I tried to flash the bios to be able to make some changes but I was unable to do so. After that, I decided to login to XP and reformated the partition of Ubuntu to another NTFS drive. Well I guess I really messed things up. I'm not getting error Grub error 17. I can't even login anymore. Help! Thanks, Jr. Sys

Reply: (edit)From XP's recovery console run 'FIXBOOT' or from a 98 start up floppy run 'fdisk mbr'. That will remove GRUB and instill MS's boot code into the Master Boot Record.

Reply: (edit)Thanks for the help. I booted to recovery mode and then selected 1 for the only drive and then I'm at a C:windows and I type FIXBOOT, but I still got the same error. Then I did it again and this time I typed : FIXBOOT C:, but it did not work. Help! Jr. Sys
